How do I fix my Gray Hair?

For some reason, out of all the things you were prepared for in your life, gray hair was never one of them. Someone in their 20s is too young to be sporting those unruly strands of gray. Unfortunately, our genetics aren’t exactly interested in what we want or don’t want.

Maybe you saw those strands of gray at first and didn’t think anything of it. Everyone has it to some extent, right? And then you started to notice definite patches of gray all over your hair that you now have no way of reversing.

Or do you?

Fortunately, we have some advice on how to fix gray hair. Your hair will turn gray eventually one day, but you can at least delay the process for a while longer.

1. Shampoo For Removing Gray Hair

You could start by using shampoos that deposit an ample amount of color into gray hair. This is a bit different from using hair dye as you don’t need to spend hours color treating your hair, nor do you have to visit salons every other week to maintain the color level. Instead, using these shampoos will deposit color into your hair while you are washing. If you already had color-treated hair and just needed to cover the grays, it would deepen the color.

These shampoos are usually chemicals free and hydrating. They will gently cleanse your hair, so your gray hair isn’t any more damaged either. You can use something like John Frieda Brilliant Brunette Visibly Deeper Colour Deepening Shampoo, which is a mixture of cocoa and primrose oil if you are a brunette. If you have different hair color or want to use on colored hair, there are shampoos in the market such as Celeb Luxury Viral Colorwash: Color Depositing Shampoo Concentrate and Keracolor Clenditioner Color Depositing Conditioner Colorwash. Both of these shampoos have a wide range of hair color depositing properties.

2. Rinse With Black Tea

Other than using shampoos with natural ingredients, there are plenty of home remedies you can use. Home remedies can be a hassle for some people as you have to spend quite a time gathering the ingredients and preparing the concoctions. However, the result can be extremely satisfying.

Black tea and salt mixture is probably one of the most accessible home remedies. All you need to do is prepare hot liquid black tea and then sprinkle salt in it. Ideally, you will use one tsp of salt and about two tbsp of black tea. Once the tea has cooled down, apply it on wet hair and then wait for it to dry. You will have to use this method regularly to darken your hair though.

Black tea has a generous amount of anti-oxidants. It is this antioxidant that helps darken the hue of our hair color and provide an extra bit of shine to it.

If you don’t have the time to wash your hair with black tea, though, you can use shampoos that have natural black tea as an ingredient. THE MANE CHOICE - Peach Black Tea Vitamin Fusion Shampoo is one of the best ones in this regard. It promises to nourish and hydrate your hair and if customer reviews are anything to go by, the shampoo keeps its promises.

3. Lemon Juice and Almond Oil

For this concoction, you will have to mix two parts of lemon juice with two parts of almond oil. Massage the mixture into your scalp and hair, and then keep it on for 30 minutes. You can wash it off afterward and go by your daily shampooing routine.

We recommend almond oil and lemon juice because lemon juice is good for adding shine and volume to our hair along with accelerating hair growth. Almond oil, on the other hand, contains Vitamin E, which acts as a nourisher and is also responsible for delaying graying. A mixture of both these ingredients can only be powerful.

Almond Oil; Sweet Almond Oil for Skin or Almond Oil for Hair by Viva Naturals is the one you should go for if you have never brought almond oil before and don’t know which one to buy. The company has a good reputation, and the almond oil is for both skin and hair in this case. You can stand to provide some extra care to your skin once you are done with your hair.

4. Coffee And Henna

First, prepare a cup of coffee with only one tbsp of the powder. Once it cools down, add the henna powder to it to make a paste. Cover the paste and let it rest for a few hours. Then add the paste to any oil you prefer and apply it on your hair. You can wash off the paste after an hour has passed.

Henna has always been popular as a natural colorant. What people don’t know is that it is equally equipped to do the job of a conditioner. If we add it to coffee, the result is anti-oxidants from caffeine mixing together to give shiny and strong hair that keeps gray hair at bay.  It’s an old remedy that’s always been popular for darkening gray hair.

If you don’t have the time to not only prepare the henna and coffee solution but also to keep it on for one hour, you can solve the problem by using a caffeine shampoo. TruePure Natural Caffeine Shampoo would be a good option in this case as it is paraben and sulfate-free. It also doesn’t have a fragrance, which can be a blessing if you’re one of those people who hate the smell of caffeine or any aroma in general.

Conclusion

Home remedies, while effective, can be time-consuming. We understand if you don’t necessarily want to or have the time to try any of them. Instead, you could use a shampoo that removes gray hair once or twice a week or dye your hair with the color of your choice.
